One of our client schools urgently requires a SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a small group of teachers and TAs supporting students with autism.

Start and finish times:

8.30am – 3.30pm from Monday to Friday (4.30pm finish Wednesdays for training)

The role is as rewarding as it is challenging. Based in North London at a special school, you would be providing support for several children with diagnoses of autism within a class or classes. The school welcomes ambitious individuals who are looking to develop within a supportive and inclusive environment. Empathy, enthusiasm, a positive outlook, and a commitment to encouraging SEND children to achieve their full potential, are essential to thrive in this role.

N.B You must be willing to administer personal care (always with another member of staff and never alone) and be willing to 'stand' in the water to support the young people during swimming lessons.

Experience/Qualifications:

-Able to demonstrate previous work supporting children with autism (either in school or other work paid or unpaid)

-Excellent behaviour management skills

-Good communication skills

-Ability to work collaboratively within a team

-Patience and resilience

-Not deterred by new challenges

Duties include (but aren’t limited to):

-1:1 and group support with pupils aged 11-19

-Managing challenging behaviour

-Being a motivator and role model

-Supervising pupils during a range of activities

-Supporting the class teacher with the preparation and delivery of lessons

-Promoting the safety and wellbeing of pupils
