The role is a full time temporary position where you will be working from 8.30am until 3.30pm Monday to Friday each week.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a SEN school in North-West London.

The role would involve supporting pupils with Complex learning difficulties, Autism and Speech and language difficulties aged between 11-19.

The school provides a holistic environment for young people and their families, and works closely with a variety of health professionals to ensure the health and therapy needs are incorporated in the students’ daily experience. The school works in close partnership with parents to maximise the potential of everyone, and to prepare the students for adult life.

A holistic approach means to provide support that looks at the whole person, not just their mental health needs. The support should also consider their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.

Each person will have a different experience of mental illness and a path to recovery that is influenced by their age, gender, culture, heritage, language, faith, sexual and gender identity, relationship status, life experience and beliefs.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about working in SEN and making a difference to young people’s lives.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who already have experience working with children with SEND needs, either in school or care settings.

How we will help you:

  • Be on hand to support you throughout your assignment.
  • Offer in-house training and guidance specific to the child you are working with
  • Pay an excellent rate of pay within the sector

The Role

  • You will support the child on a 1:1 basis in and out of the classroom
  • Assist with all work set and help in areas of specific weakness
  • Develop appropriate resources to motivate and encourage
  • Provide continuous positive reinforcement and praise
  • Understand and attend to the the pupils needs and assist in developing strategies to manage these
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and parents to ensure the pupil progresses in their learning
