LTS Group: Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment and DBS Clearance
LTS Safeguarding Commitment to Schools
Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021 continues to require schools to maintain a Single Central Record and list on it all agency staff who are employed by a third party, recording that the third party has confirmed that its staff have appropriate clearances. (KCSIE para 268).
I am writing to confirm the status of all employees of LTS Group in relation to safer recruitment checks enhanced DBS clearance and Safeguarding training.
I confirm that all LTS Group workers have an Enhanced DBS check in line with Disclosure and Barring Service guidance to employers and have been appointed following full Safer Recruitment processes. All employees also receive regular Safeguarding training and updates. Please see list of required Safeguarding procedures every LTS worker must complete before our registration process is complete.
• Accredited Safeguarding training
• Home Office Prevent Training
• Signed acknowledgement that all candidates have signed a declaration that they have read and understood the following:
o LTS Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
o KCSIE part 1
o SEND Code of Practice (2015)
o Guidance for Safer Working Practice for Staff Working with Children in Education Settings (2019)
All staff and workers are subject to LTS Policies and Procedures which can be provided upon request. In all instances, your school’s individual policies supersede ours when LTS candidates are working on your site. Please make staff aware of any additional restrictions of which they should be aware.
LTS encourages schools to continue taking all appropriate safeguarding measures. These include checking the identity of our candidates on arrival to schools and ensuring they sign-in on each occasion that they visit. In the event of any concern about a particular member of the LTS team, I would welcome direct contact from you to discuss the individual situation.
As envisaged by KCSIE 2021, the LTS Group procedures mean that schools should not need to hold information on individual LTS candidates on their central record of adults working at the school, or carry out separate DBS checks themselves on LTS candidates who carry Photo ID. Please see statements from DFE and OFSTED below.
It is sufficient, for schools and colleges to seek written confirmation that appropriate checks, including DBS checks, have been carried out (most commonly on appointment) and by whom (most commonly the relevant human resources department), and to confirm the identity of these visitors. Written confirmation may take the form of a public statement on the providing organisation’s website, a practice adopted by Ofsted.’
Eddi Banks (Director)
Approachable, kind, friendly, patient and reliable are the words that come to mind when I think about my experience with the team at LTS. They definitely did what they said they would do from the beginning. Amanda – my consultant is an absolute star. What stood out is that she was genuinely interested in what and where I wanted to take my career. She advised me and even gave me a boost of confidence and most importantly she was always reachable, there was never a time that I contacted her and she did not reply.
I will continue to recommend LTS to everyone that I know is looking for work and I will never forget how smooth they made my job search.
Thank you to Amanda and the team.
