A Year 2 learner’s parent expressed concern that he had made little progress in school for two years. She wanted support with his learning and behaviour at home.

Initial Observations

Limited speech and difficulty expressing needs.

Could only sit and focus for a couple of minutes.

Displayed frustration through kicking, biting, pushing, hitting, screaming, and sometimes running away.

Loved laptops and phones; responded well to screen-based activities.

Strengths

Very creative, responded well to imaginative tasks.

Strong reading ability provided a foundation for learning.

Our Approach

• Built on his interest in technology to increase engagement.

• Structured short sessions to gradually develop attention span.

• Introduced behaviour management and positive reinforcement strategies.

• Designed creative, reading-based activities around his strengths.
